sorry to hear bout that, read it and had to look at the date, that's crazy how fast this all happened. Definately heavy stuff, glad you were able to walk away from it, and it seems you learned a lesson, and glad you are able to look at it that way. +1 on the choose better friends. having found my friend dead in the bathtub dead for 3 days from a horse overdose, it's also not so fun for the ones you leave behind either. i choose to distance myself from my drug abusing friends after that. i never had a prob, but i can relate.

I am really glad you shared that with us and even more glad that you survived that experience. I have seen many people go through something similar and somehow they manage to go straight until the scare wears off and they are right back into the same thing again.

One thing that is true about an addiction is that once you overcome it, if you decide to go back and "taste" it, the addiction is much stronger and it becomes even harder to overcome. I had a college buddy who dropped out of AA thinking to himself that he had enough "self control" to handle a couple of beers every now and then... which eventually turned into a need for booze every day after work. And this guy would get increasingly irritated and violent if his wife forgot to put his beer in the freezer or if she forgot to buy more wine. Long story short, he went to a superbowl party, got completely wasted and he never got to find out who won the game. Even with some of my own issues I am glad that I learned the easy way that I had to get far away from the people and the things that caused me to get myself into trouble.
