Still, the magnetic alignment sequence will take 8 book hours so that the dealer can bill you $840 labor for R&R.

In the future, no fasteners will be made out of steel. They will be made out of plastic. So your magnetic pickup tool will become useless. You will now need a Snap On Dispersion Force Attractor Beam Stick that costs $1050 MSRP, but the truck guy will take monthly payments of $24. For the rest of your life.

People on r3vlimited.com will resort to using a ball of duct tape on the end of a screwdriver to retrieve these plastic fasteners (oh shit, I forgot, BMW parts will have an official supercession, like when they decided to stop producing cad plated parts and instead give us Zn plated garbage), but curse when they drop a piece into their valvetrain. These people will make posts like "will a piece of duct tape in my valvetrain do any damage?" People will then argue whether or not the fibers inside duct tape are fiberglass or nylon. Mr Deagle will say, if you can't duck it, fuck it. Then a lurker will post, it's duct tape not duck tape.

It's a bleak future. Just lock yourself in an E30 in a small garage and turn the car on.
    Amen, brother. Amen.

i used to turn wrenches...now i do bodywork, for a good tech (around here at least) they pay $16 a flat rate hour. i just landed a job for $21 a flat rate hour. in a busy shop if you are good: and fast (notice the pause) you should have NO prob running 100 shop hours a week. i also have my i-car certs and more skill then the average "mud slinging hack" that you run into claiming to be a bodyman.
i just got tired of working on hot engines in the summer (az=110* or more most of the summer), an opertunity was offered to me to try/learn bodywork, i already had fab and welding skills, along with the mechanical background, so off i went.
        just an idea for you....

There will always be a need for body work, even when fusion reactor powered cars ar the norm. People will always run into trees when doing some mad super drift-o on the streets.....

Actually its DUCT tape which was originally used for air ducts. DUCK TAPE is a brand name for duct tape.

I think that everything said so far about the future of the automotive field is certain to happen.. but I would also add that the "fly by wire" concept is inevidable. The "feeling" that goes with the resistance of steering and braking and acceleration will become less noticeable.
