I hate spiders, but I am the spider killer in my house. I hate small spaces.

When I was much younger, I had a nightmare that my Daughter (who was about 3 in the nightmare) was bitten by a snake. I was holding her in my arms as she died, all swollen stiff and blue. I woke up with such an intensity, I was unable to sleep for a couple of days.

Other than shit like that, I really don't get scared. I feel bad for you guys that do though...Curt, you are the winner on that one.

Bears. Being mauled by a bear is by far the worst possible way to die in my mind. Id rather have all my insides ripped out through my urethra than get mauled by a bear. They can run faster than you, can climb trees, toss you around, then slowly rip you apart. If I ever see a bear Im shooting it.

I get nervous around really heavy machinery, like huge dumptrucks, skytracks, forklifts, giant circular saws, loaders, semi trucks with giant tractors on them, etc. I'm always afraid i'm going to get crushed like an ant or something.

In fact this one time last summer I almost did. It was stupidity on my part though. I was helping my dad build a house. He took the skytrack with a huge load of 2x4 studs on it and was going to set it down where we could reach them better. I had to slide two boards underneath so that the forks of the skytrack could slide out from underneath the 2x4's like a crate for a forklift. Well, I got the two boards set up, but one wasn't tall enough for the forks to fit under, so I had to get another one. Well, since the skytrack arm was extended all the way, it bouncing around a little with all the weight on the end. It was only about 3 feet above the ground. I thought my dad saw what I was doing so I figured I'd be brave and quickly reached underneath the forks to put in a taller board. My dad suddenly started lowering the forks with the 1000lbs or so of 2x4's on it and I felt the forks pressing hard on my back. Fuck, the blood rushes from head every time I remember what that felt like. I remember quickly backing out from underneath the forks, and seeing those 2x4's bouncing less than 2 feet from the ground, as if the skytrack hydralic could fail at anytime and come crashing down on top of me.

Being burning to death, I have a near irrational respect of fire for that reason. I knew 6 people that burned to death in a accident in a oil refinery I worked in, actually had to go help look for 'walking wounded' survivors after the the scene was cleared for safety. Stuff etched in my brain I can't even talk about without watering up and sort of crying, and it's been 8 years.

Freeze to death, sure - you might be cold as heck and suffer, but you fall asleep and die. That beats one of the guys on the fire scene I was at. His autopsy revealed his leg bones were so mangled because he jumped nearly 5 stories trying avoid being caught in the explosion and resulting fire. He saw it coming, and did what he thought best to try and live.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Odd phobia, but you better shoot it with something big in the the shoulder, shatter the spinal column, and anchor it where you lay --- or else you will get mauled. I suppose if you're an excellent shot and are close, you can shoot in the eyeball with a hollowpoint.

Shooting a bear has to be the best way to piss it off.

Bears are among nature's most majestic creatures, and seeing one in the wild is an unforgettable experience. Get too close, however, and your encounter with a bear can be more terrifying than awe-inspiring. Fortunately, despite humans'...

I hate dogs I've never met before. Like walking down the street and a dog comes up to you type. Usually I only see the "dangerous" varieties, like pit-bulls and boxers and shit, but I know they can be nice dogs. But like going to a friends house that I've never been to and meeting their dog, fuckin freaks me out.

I'm also afraid of driving through downtown Newark, Paterson, Jersey City, and Elmwood Park at 1am....when im lost.

Dogs pick up on that. If you're scared you are going to freak them out right back, and that could be dangerous. I'd try and work on that if I was you. All you need is a bite to re-enforce your fears, then you're screwed for life when it comes to dogs.

That said, just because a person comes to my house, doesn't mean I let my dog around them. My regular buddies are all cool with him, but I can see when he is sketched out by someone, and so I keep them separate so my mutt doesn't experience weird vibes, and so nobody gets bit and tries to turn my dog in. I rarely let people around him unless they have dogs of their own.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.
