    Squadron Insignia

I'm wanting to create my own Insignia, but I'm lost, I don't know the first damn step, what type of program could I use to create an insignia resembling one of these? I could draw one, but I plan on having prints of them and making them stickers.

    Here's some examples ...

This is the one I really want to model after, I basically want a side profile of a knights helmet.

And this is another one I would possibly except, basically it would have to atleast have the owl.

Lot of history in military patches. There are many sites out there devoted to them, plus guys that swap patches. I get patches when I goto airshows.

Photoshop is meant for editing and manipulating photos, you could use it but Adobe Illustrator is better suited for creating graphics and illustrations. It's almost like they have those names for a reason.

Yeah.. I heard that too.. I need to learn Illustrator because I spend too much time in Photoshop doing things that could be done quicker. In a wierd sort of way, I would rather spend more time and effort working in a program that I know really well than to put that same time and effort into learning something new.

If you can draw it by hand, I would start with that, then scan it and edit it in Photoshop.

Illustrator is a much better tool for this. However, Photoshop and Illustrator go hand in hand, so you can swap pretty easily through the two programs with Adobe Bridge, which comes with most Adobe programs.

It'll even recognize if you updated a file in one program and update in the other (between PS and IL). Learn Illustrator, it'll do you good. And don't forget the Live Trace tool in Illustrator, saves so much time sometimes, but you gotta start from stratch sometimes too.

              Good luck man.
