What's up with your provider? They bite?

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Tonik is actually by BlueCross www.tonikhealth.com , I just heard good things about them and considering switching since it's about time for open enrollment. My current provider is Allegis Group and I haven't been too happy with their coverage ...

Anybody have one of them gold plated health care plans W. talks about? My experience has been decreasing coverage with greater deductibles and higher copays with only certain doctor's groups considered in network. You have your choice of doctor's, of course, but if they're not on the list you pay more.

insurance companies are the only ones getting rich nowadays. it used to be the doctors but thats no longer true. insurance companies have squeezed the doctors and forced them into set rates with no savings being passed on to patients. and be weary of "approved doctors lists". they pay to be on those lists and are typically the biggest hacks who cant get patients word of mouth.

IMO (and many others) Cigna is a PITA to deal with though. They are constantly messing up. Apparently contracts are meaningless.

Here are more of my 2 cents: (From a medical standpoint)

Medicare & Medicaid are pretty simple to deal with - just need to have an act of god to change anything.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield are very simple - and cut and dry.

Cigna & MVP act a lot alike - and are in bed with each other now more than ever.

United health care needs to get one stop shopping - but they are scattered all over.

Harvard Pilgram is decent it seems.

Tufts - do NOT get me going on them.

Great West - seems very easy to deal with!

Any HMO is a royal PITA!

Then everything else is small potatoes. I am probably forgetting many other bigger ones...

It is all a game now - how can insurance NOT pay. Pre-certs, referrals, NCD...etc.
