I am more of an old metal fan...but yea, Killswitch is ok, seen them live 3 or so times. All the new stuff is just a rip off of older bands, slayer, meshuggah...One of the only bands that was truely original and newish in this genre was Puya. Too bad those idiots broke up. Ankla is decent, but doesn't have the real large latin influence Puya did.
Going to a show tomorrow. (Metal content)

You have just lost all metal credibility. None of these post-new metal hardcore bands would be what they are without Slayer. I don't see how anything Slayer did was a gimmick. They were a bunch of psycho metalheads who looked the part. And Killswitch stomps the shit out of most of these annoying fucking kids.
I'm sorry, but people like you drive me fucking crazy. All these new "hardcore" bands are a fucking dime a dozen. They all look and sound exactly the same, and I swear to god, they all get their names the same way the manatees of the Family Guy writing staff pick subjects for jokes. I think they all just each pick up a book of some kind of early century gothic poetry, each one flips it open and puts their finger on a word, and that's how they get the name of their band, some shit like "Under the Dark Sky in the Chamber of the Dead". There, I just named a new hardcore band.
Don't get me wrong, there's a bunch of them I like. But it's when kids like you start going off about how Slayer and other original metal and thrash bands are "gay", it drives me fucking crazy.Last edited by Jand3rson; 04-08-2007, 12:55 PM.Comment

Son, don't fuck with Slayer. Reign in Blood is a perfect album that these preps will never be able to even come close to sniffing. They owe more directly to all the second generation of death metal (post 1994) than to Slayer. Sounds like the same old Cookie Monster vocals and touch of the guitar harmony/odd time time change riffs. I'm sure it is fun to hear live, but hardly original.sigpicComment

I'm just joking around with trent a little. I know he was one of those kids back in high school who screamed slayer ever chance he got.;)
What I mean by the gimmick is slayer acted like they worshiped the devil, even though it was just a stage "gimmick". I remember hearing that when I watched that documentary of Metal, on VH1.
Me using the word br00t3l was to make fun of those dime a dozen gay hardcore/metal and also the fact that Slayer used fake blood on stage while today you see some real blood happen on occasion (on accident of course but nonetheless)
Of course bands today have been influenced from band of the past such as slayer. You just got to decide weather you think that makes them better as they are evolving, or if its making the music worse.
One last thing. Killswitch Englage is gay and I'm not joking around with that :)
You don't think Thrill Seeker was a superior album than Looks Fragile After All? Or are you talking about their upcoming album?ABR is good times.
old ABR is even better times.Last edited by Schniddy; 04-08-2007, 04:39 PM.Comment

These guys sound pretty good, for the record, Slayer KICKS ASS.
Anyone listen to Dethklok lol? I don't know why but I listen to the intro song they have over and over, its so good for some odd reason.
Right now I have been listening to a ton of Norma Jean, Sworn Enemy, As blood runs black, and Iron Maidens first album with Paul Di'Anno.
Static-X's new CD is fuckin insane too, "destroyer" is amazing.
Oh and motorhead, I never burn a CD without them, and they are never left out of ANY play list.Rollin' with a GeistkuchenComment

I honestly think both of their albums are awesome, but I enjoy the old cd alittle more. Im stoked on their new cd.
Plus, you guys should listen to The Acacia Strain if you like ABR.Comment

one thing I give credit to slayer... they haven't change dtheir sound ONE bit since their beginnings. They could have easily sold out, but no, they don't. For getting close to their 50s, they rock harder than all of these waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles kids who are in "Screamo" bands ever will be able too.
And for the record, I have seen more blood and better pits at any slayer show than anything else. I have been to over 100+ metal shows, and seen more than most.Comment

I must say, even though I agree with you about SLayers "gimmick" Kerry King certaily plays the part. It takes a lot of balls to have tribal tattoos across your entire body.
