My Beer Diploma has finally arrived!!

I now have a degree in German beer. I had to do the "course" in one day as opposed to the usual few days people take to complete it. WHats the "course" you ask? Its drinking 1 Liter of beer at 10 different local breweries. All the waitresses couldnt believe we were doing it in one day. But I HAD to get my hands on a diploma for beer. It was my destiny. They (mikeedler and friends) told me about it the night before at a bar in Bamberg once they saw how I could drink. Even the GERMANS were telling me "you can earn 2 easily" haha. Anyways, without further adew. My beer diploma which I have been waiting for since my trip from Germany in 2006 for the World Cup.

And the sheet we had to get stamped proving we had actually drank a liter of beer at any given brewery.

The night before when I found out about this so-called diploma of beer.

Woke up this morning.....about to get FUCKED up!

The first brewery. Nothing like a beer at 9AM

    Bambergs famous smoked beer

    haha....more beer

walking to all the breweries... wow we walked a lot that day.

I have most of these mugs. I had the heaviest backpack in the history of recorded time coming back from Europe.

    more walking

then we went back to Mike's house had a BBQ and drank some more.

NOPE, it is a Bamberg only thing, and they dont do it anymore. They didnt do it after the fathers day in 2005. too many people puked all over the place- But people with the right connections made it happen for them. Glad you got the stuff! you need to send Erik his.

If there was such a thing. You dont think Id have one??? I was so happy when I found out all it required was drinking the beer, not an actual class I had to go to or sign up for.

So, Mike... do you have any of these right connections mentioned...? It would be awesome to still find a way to do this.

I thought something was a bit iffy...

Sorry to be a stickler, but my props are removed Mariano. 5 liters of beer is just typical, fun, but not outstanding. And just makes Erick a punk ;).

That's a half liter glass. You had five liters, which is 15 12oz beers, not 10 liters which would be 30, or an entire rack.

                      You can translate the Bierdiplom:
"Visited 10 Bamberger Breweries and in everyone drank a half liter Bier"

                      halben = half

unless of course you downed two of those pints at each place, then i am impressed

German Beers from breweries = more than 5-6% alky.

People were giving me their beers to drink after a few breweries. I was drinking my brothers and Ericks beers. Stephan I dont even think drank any so I had his as well.

6% by volume, not weight. Europeans measure their alcohol differently from us so they are not THAT much stronger than our typical brews, just a tad.

Keystone Ice is 5.9% by volume but only 4.58% by weight. Light is 4.2/3.5 - the factor is by volume overstates the number we are used to by 25% and should be multiplied by .80 to get by weight.

That being said the beers are going to be about the same as Blue Moon in alcohol content. (5.4% by volume... in most states)

the selection at the brewery I visited. Most have a third more alcohol than the mass-produced domestic light beers, but on par with crafts.
