    Removing Monitor Scratches

Does anyone know if you can remove a scratch from a computer monitor. It is a plastic monitor and I was thinking it may be possible to use a compound, but did not want to ruin the entire thing trying to remove one scratch.

    Any ideas?

You mean the glass screen or the plastic case? CRT or LCD?

Hmm, the only thing I have ever heard is to use Vaseline. The LCD is kind of like a membrane and I don't think normal compounds will help.

Try putting a dab of vaseline on the scratch and wipe off the excess so it just stays in the scratch, should make it look a bit better.

I am told that this problem is easily repairable by replacing the plastic sheet that covers the actual LCD. I do not know exactly who does it or what kind of shop to look for but the part of the screen that you can touch is covering the actual LCD panel. I learned this because I had scratched the plastic sheet that covers the screen on my plasma TV. I called the manufacturer and they sent me a replacement.

I'll look further into it. Its an iMac, so maybe the owner can just contact Apple to see what they suggest. I pretty sure something like this has happened before and can be fixed so I just have to find the right method.

            Thanks for the input.
