I don't think that they will ever go down in price.

It's way up right now. You can hardly find a rolling chassis for less than $5k. I bought mine for $11k 4 years ago and I've had recent offers for $16-17k.

Definite Incline. I want to get one...but it would be hard to go from 240whp to less than 200 crank HP for more money..

If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought one when I had the opportunity. Back in 2003 I saw one for $3000 and I thought it was a bit pricy for a 15 year old car. Plus I had no idea what an M3 was. I thought it was just a regular old BMW with a kit on it.

I got mine in 2001 and they were rising slowly, then they rose very quickly, and leveled out. Now theyre just rising slowly again.

I don't think it will ever go back down. I think they have reached a point like other "classic" cars where they are just going to go up in value.

A year or two back I did a ton of price research on the value of e30 m3s, like AdamF 88iS said, 5k is cheap for a rolling chassies. anything less will buy you a non running bent in half, or half or a m3 lol.

Even total crap m3's that are beat to hell with 9 million miles on them will still sell for 8k+ as long as they are running.

Of course again, mine seems to be the exception to all of these rules lol. I would say any running m3 you find for under 8k I would snap it up.

So lets say I happened to acquire an M3 at the police auction and I decided to put my M20 engine in it? Would that count as a "running" car?
