    Lets talk bikes....

Ok, my boss picked up a really cool old school 1988 Yamaha FZ 600. We got the carbs cleaned out (think the floats need to be replaced though, just for good measure), and it keeps dieing. Think it needs a new voltage regulator. He said I could pick it up from him for a couple hundred bucks, since he paid only 350 for at the auction. It has 20,000 some-odd miles on, runs like a top though. Here is what it looks like, except the tank is a little beat on.

This is the only bike I have ridden, and boy is it fun. Think this would be a good starter bike?

Looks like an awsome starter bike. I've been enjoying my Ninja 250 for the past few months as a commuter and I love it, even on the ever-straight roads of Florida.

Here's the only picture I have of my 250:

              good starter bike.

def will be a ton of problems though. being that old, and having 20k on it.

how is the chain, sprockets, clutch, etc? you may get the carbs apart and realize that's not the prob.

a good bike to start on though, and the right price. go for it.

                I started with a POS XR100.
Now riding a KTM 250EXC- No authorities to limit the fun you can have on dirt bikes. No pics but pretty standard, only jetting changes really.

As others have mentioned this would make a great starter bike.

I have an '81 Yamaha Xj650 which is an early ancestor to the FZ600. The yamaha 4-cyl is absolutely bulletproof and quite powerfull. Mine looks nothing like it did originally. I've changed about everything. I dont even have pics of the latest iteration of the bike. I have Clubman bars and a different seat on it now. I also put on pod filters and jebuilt/rejetted the carbs. Runs awesome!

My next purchase is probably going to be a purple and lime green 1989 Honda CBR Hurricane.

Here is my latest bike. It's an 07 GSX-R750. I've got it up on stands right now to put some real tires on it. So far I've put on a full Akrapovic exhaust system, a Powercommander 3, steel lines, sintered pads, a -1 front sprocket, and have a set of Michelin Pilot Race tires that are going on before my first track day of the year on the 28th. I don't ride much on the street anymore, so this is going to be a full time track bike for the most part.
