    DSM guys, please help.

Hey guys, my installer has a '97 Talon TSi AWD turbo.

He seems to attract assclowns to get info from.

He spun a crank bearing, trashed his turbo (impeller shreds, anyone?) and his oil pressure has always read ZERO.

He needs advice and I am not qualified.

    Thanks!

    Luke

If the compressor wheel, intake side, got smashed up then you now have little turbo parts in your motor = very very bad. With spinning a crank bearing and turbo destruction, i'd go on and rebuild the whole thing, or find a replacement motor.

BTW i'm not a DSM guy, but I would do that for any motor. The turbo guys here would know better.

Luke, my buddy has destroyed a couple DSM engines and rebuilt them. He had an oil pressure problem too, but the opposite. To much pressure from the balance shaft removal. I think we're going golfing this afternoon, I may be able to put him on the phone with you.

From what I know about DSMs is that the 7 bolt crank has lots of problems and the 6 bolt is much stronger. Put a 6 bolt bottom end and a new turbo...should be fine...but then again it is a DSM..

Just get a new 6 bolt 4g63 and rebuild it. There is no sense trying to salvage that motor considering 4g's are a dime a dozen.
