had my first ride on this thing earlier tonight... WOW. that is all I can say about it really. I thought i was just getting some 9 year old "600"... it is amazingly powerful, it feels like with just a flick of the wrist i'd loop it up and over just based on how much power is there from idle to 7-8grand. hard to believe i can take it to almost 14,000.

    105hp (i think) 406lbs dry. (440 all filled up IIRC, a bit of a porker at about 40lbs more than a new 2007 600rr)

i'm 6'3 195lbs... i've never ridden a street bike before, or any motorcycle except an 80cc dirtbike and some 1991 bmw dual sport, thats why it feels so fast. i've been in high 11 sec cars but its completely different on a bike.

Yup. Jumping from my Ninja 250 to my old man's R1 is a completely different game. It's ridiculous. I would never need that much power.

I'm hoping to jump on a Fazer 600 at some point in time though... just scouting eBay for the right deal.

I ride a 2004 CBR 600 F4i.....awesome bike. I wish I had more torque, but a pipe fixes that easily enough anyhow. Just take it easy, and just be careful for everyone else out there! They are all horrible drivers that like to cut bikes off and that get motorcyclists killed!
That, and never wear shorts and a t shirt. I used to, and around town last year laid the bike down....yup, even at low speed, hurt like hell and got plenty of road rash

i just bought a bunch of gear for the bike.

although I might return the shift kevlar reinforced riding jeans after hearing that they aren't going to help much more in a fall at freeway speeds, so i'll probably get some of the A*textile pants i can pull over my shorts or regular jeans. would like to get some leather pants but we shall see, they are $$. probably should have just bought a 2 piece breathable suit instead. o well those are $650 alone.

eh... my old man lives off eBay. He bought his 4 different bikes on eBay and always had a successful experience. You gotta know what to look for and you gotta ask the right questions.

I bought my bike on eBay as well and had no problems either. Hopefully will be doing the same again soon.

The vast majority of cycling accidents occur at around 35 mph or slower. Tht's where you need protection. People making left-hand turns and pulling out in front of you are your biggest fears.
