    Watch TV on Laptop

First, what I want to be able to do is watch TV on my laptop. I don't want to have to hook my computer to an already existing TV. I wasn't sure if the cable could be transmitted through the modem and onto my laptop through the ethernet or wireless.

Secondly, I have found TV/Laptop Tuners that plug into the USB or some other port that have the RCA adapter on them. I don't want anything that ties my computer down or forces me to remove it from my desk.

I'm curious to know if any of you know of a downloadable program for my ideal setup or if I must go with the "corded" route.

    Corded is your only option.

You can always get a slingbox. If you have high speed internet at home and then you have high speed internet wherever you have your laptop, you can watch and control your home TV from your laptop.

You simply run the signal from your cable or satillite box or VCR into the slingbox, connect it to your internet connection at home, and then wherever you are, you can log into your slingbox and control the cable box to change channels as it streams the video directly to you.

Greatest thing EVER. I have an LF-PK1 and the thing is AWESOME. I have my DVD player hooked up to it too, so I can watch dvd's away from home also. I actually got it for my PSP, but my GF uses it with her laptop all the time (more often I use my PSP).

The cool thing is, no matter where you are, it's always going to be local shows from where ever it's setup.

Here is an LF-PK1 on eBay:
