Trader Joe's in CA markets a single malt whisky distilled by Macallan in 12 and 18 year varieties.
Evidently the TJ's 18 is like $45 or some shit like that. The Macallan 18 ranges from $135 to $190 in a regular liquor store. It is a private label bottling, so take that for what its worth. I've read that it's cut down a little more (40% rather than 43% ABV). If you can get 90% of the Macallan 18 experience, that is a goddamn bargain.

man, that sucks. Actually my vodka of choice these days is monopolowa. But I really wish I could buy booze at costco. State run stores here too. Went to Lake Tahoe for memorial day, and walked into a safeway. Not only did the grocery store sell booze, it was half price. I think I bought 100$ of booze on the first day.
Booze is alcohol with other stuff in it. The premium price isn't for the alcohol it's for the other stuff. Alcohol is just another drug. Everclear FTW!
