    I Need Wheel Locks!

    Holy SHIT! something crazy happened today. The only way I can see this being possible is someone must have tried to steal my wheels last night (prob failed b/c my car is slammed, and a lot of jacks dont fit underneath) because.....as i was driving on an offramp today, the car all of the sudden starts to wiggle violently and then sets itself sideways. Once I got control, I pulled over on the shoulder on the offramp. Got out and check my back rear wheel, and only ONE lug nut was left!! Two were sheared off and one was just completely gone! I was gonna get wheel studs anyway, but did that speed up my plans!

    Any other ideas as to how this could have happened?

    FUCK does that piss me off!!!

    Wow, that could have been pretty bad...glad your ok. I have to ask, but your sure the lugs were propery tightened the last time they were installed? Anyone out to get you?

    There is nothing I hate more that the kind of scumbag who fucks with other peoples cars like that. A few months ago my wife's E30 was keyed...about 2 1/2 feet worth at the left rear quarter panel. I was so fucking pissed...and there is NOTHING I can do about it. Probably just some loser ass fuck-up with no life who is mad at the world trying to impress his friends.

    Dammit!!! now I'm pissed off all over again.

    Glad you are ok though, could have been much worse.

      I suspect foul play. That seems more like sabatogue than theft. If it were theft, they would have attempted to jack up the car on the rear valence or the rear bumper. Also wheel theft involves using Honda jacks because they can fit up under anything. I don't know how low your car is, but a Honda scissor jack is only about 2½ to 3 inches tall when fully retracted. I cannot imagine that someone would be walking around with an E30 jack because most crimes are a situation of opportunity more so than something that's planned... unless it just so happened to be an E30 owner/theif who happened be in the neighborhood. Even the factory BMW lug bolts are smaller than the lugs on most other cars so your standard 4-way lug wrench is not gonna get it. I would think that you would have to have an E30 lug wrench and/or know that you need one in order to get the wheels off.

        So the ONLY way your lug bolts could have come loose is because someone tried to steal your wheels?

        When was the last time you had your wheels off?

          Glad someone else said it, I had that RX-7 video in my head as I was reading this - but if you planned on buying wheel studs / locks, sounds like you now have a good reason to.

            What standard lug wrenches are you using? E30 lug nuts are a 17mm socket. I've used a 4-way to get my nuts off before. lol

              the last time i took the back wheels off was at least 2 weeks ago. the front wheels were off during my clutch job, but the rear stayed on during it.

                I drove through the neighborhood w/ an open exhaust the past few days (I'm getting ready to go to the exhaust shop to change from dual to single 2.5 inch), but other than that i don't believe I have any enemies.
