they are like that because they are close to the border? :dunno:

im not saying they arent welcome here, they deserve to be here as much as we do. i know learning a new language can be hard, but my parents did it. they speak english fluently. how come other cultures can come here and do it and they can't? why isn't there a "Press 3 for Hindi" option?

You are right. But we do it ANYWAY because we WANT to. If we didn't, our economy would suffer.

I don't necessarily think that we should close the doors to the "illegal immigrants", but rather show them the proper way to enter the country. But the US should take the necessary precautions, doing criminal background checks and what not.

And the immigrants themselves, no matter what country they are from, should take more initiative to learn the language and the culture. Not forget theirs, but remember they chose to come to this country. There is no reason why we (Americans) should have to change our way of life to conform to the newcomers.

I started this thread…But you seem to be the most vocal about it – actually against it. Explain??

Let me state my intentions for starting this.

    A.) I think a conservation is good
B.) There are a lot of young guys here that need to re3view history/be chanlengend
    C.) It’s a "ligit" topic

I am just awe struck at the different things said.

I do admit, I picked a title to this thread to get a reaction. Not really like that in my personal life, I’m a white boy (33, turning 34 on Thursday – I’m as old as dirt,
“Stero installer” and I are in the same retirement home)

With that said. Many people are calling the other guy “racist” where it is just pride for USA - who knows. Do you?

Can I follow up with the question? – “When is it wrong to protect your country? Love
Your country, and …look after it”

I didn’t know being white and loving my USA instantly sent me to the ass hole room???

....It's weird for a white guy to bring up race. It's like we are judged the second we do. The second anyone brings up the topic...Can you understand that?
i just do not like the prevalent mediocrety that these people live with, besides when they finaly get their PAPELES that is it! they do not strugle anymore. Just cruise along.
They do not even like the US but they sure as hell will take the money out of it. Just an ex Immigration officer opinion here. what the hey.

Amen. -> Anyone watch the National Puerto Rican Day Parade this year??? Well for those open-minded enough to watch it, you would have even seen a group playing the bad-pipe. Not that's not at all Latino, yet the organizers allowed it.

BTW It should say "Laissez le bon temps rouler." which is a very direct translation of "Let the good time roll." When the Acadian were refugees, deported from Eastern Canada, they did not speak English (which was the language of their oppressor) and even these days, many still speak a particular Acadian type of French. I am glad that people like Zacharie Richard and many others still keep the French flame alive.
a life is a life but, you do not have any citizen rights until you are a citizen. Therefore you cannot use the services of the Law. The case shoudl be overturned or appealed due to that the person is not protected under the constitution.

It does not work. You cannot force people to become what is "dominant" culture. You are implying a power relation, one which is based on false pretenses. The EXACT country you are all claiming to be YOURS was just "acquired" a few centuries ago. That is not a long time, and just because you FORCE an existing population to the periphery does not make the damn place yours.

I doubt anyone here will agree with me, you're all brainwashed by your culture. I'll just say that from outside that little box you all reside in, your views look very silly.

Well my friend, if i may say so,historically cultures have always came together at civilization mecas, but always brought good things to the table. if not they would starve due to the huge competition. Here in the States we instead LOWER THE STANDARDS to accomodate the rest. i have worked in immigration for the last five years on both sides of it, against and for it. It is the saddest thing to see that these people create a little eutopian society, closed to the world and only living with in themselves. When they live in the most diverse country of the world at this point in time.

They do not isolate themselves due to an informed decition or choice, it is due to ignorance, lazyness and fear of the new. How the hell are you gonna expect to be treated the same if you refuse cooperate? Social sevices is full of first generation and even more of the pathetic second genaration immigrants who failed to fit in, and now they do not even have jobs. Go to LA and see what mexicans have done to the place.

Not all of them are bad, some of them are smart people and hard workers. i just hoped they could get a more sophisticated form of screening them. You a GANG member? out!!!. Collage degree? porbation for five years and then evaluation.

a little extreme but i just hate the fuckers, i am part mexican and colombian, i learned the lenguage with in two years, what is stopping them?! It can be done!

maybe like that if they learn the lenguage the will not have to scrub toilets anymore.

Also we have to keep in mind that the mayority of people that are really worth it dont have to leave their countries. Most of the immigrants here are the failures that could not mount up to nothing in their home country.

P.S.: just a counter point, not starting a fight.

None of them have a problem with what they are achieving in this country, The ones pictured are people that are 1st generarion americans that are teenage high schoolers and have NO idea whats going on and have a nationalistic ethnocentric view on life. Youre not actually comparing high school latinos to blue collar illegal immigrants, are you???

    Mariano

You have no idea if those people are legal or not.
No they are not all high schoolers who are doing this. And what does that tell you about the first generation many born from ILLEGALS anyways. The parents don't respect this country and neither do the children. You've just hepled defend my arguement.
I've worked with many Mexicans in LA. Many more than likely illegals. I don't give a rats ass how cool, nice, hard working or loving of this country they are, THEY ARE ILLEGAL and should not be here.
