I don't think that VA residents really care. It might scare some of the out of town drivers but that's it. A few years ago the Virginia State police had speed traps throughout the ENTIRE length of I-95 that goes through the state. They even came on the news and announced that they would be out there in full force all weekend long cracking down on as many people as they can.

Do you think that everyone would be scared straight for a couple of days? FORGET IT! They said that they issued more reckless driving tickets to LOCAL residents on that day than any other time in state police history and they cited almost 1.8 million dollars in fines for that entire 3-day weekend

ive noticed this nice little trend that they have going on I-81 sometimes. on the roadside VDOT message billboards that say "Speed Limit Strictly enforced". On those days, cops pull over anyone going like 6 over. VA state cops... what a bunch of assholes. So yeah, stay out of VA if you wanna speed...and not get caught

Fuck VA cops. Got a speeding ticket there about a month ago. I was going 13 over in a 65, so yeah, I passed the threshold, but there are signs everywhere warning you and even ones that say they use radars from airplanes. Good way to make some income and prey on outsiders who don't know how serious they are. Can't blame them.

The cops got me a couple of times on those back roads that parallel 81. Like once I was comming back from Winchester and I took a shortcut back to I-66 where the speed limit is 55 most of the way, but then they have these quarter and half mile stretches of the highway where the speed limit drops down to 30. So if you aren't paying attention (like I wasn't) you can go right through the speed trap without any idea that you were breaking the law.

The state trooper that pulled me over let me off with a warning suggesting that I probably didn't know any better because I was from DC. Whew! I'm glad that I have DC tags on my car!

Its modern day facism people, this happens everywhere ...right? The virginia police can suck on my balls for a little while, I mean come on.... there is drug dealing, spousal/ child abuse, theft and murder going on everywhere but exeeding the speed limit is priority #1. Please.

That being said I have not been guilty of speeding in quite some time.

in germany, this kind of thing isnt understood. they expect you to drive at least the posted limit. hell, ask the citizens, they all agree, if a cop is riding your tail, you speed up to allow him his comfort speed.

last year i got pulled in a little town for not using a blinker when really, the cop was pissed that i left him stuck behind a tanker and cars. took it to court which was a complete waste of time. i suppose thats the towns main source of income.

I got a ticket for 70 in a 65 in my little-ass town at 7 am going to a school trip. We never really had cops sitting on I-81 until about 2 years agao, now there are 3 spots for the 3 exits where you can see a cop sitting at any given time. They suck teh ballz.

At 120 MPH they don't even know what color your car is let alone having the abilty to catch you. Imagine the scenario- "PSSSHHHP One David Roger.. in persuit of a.... ummm...cancel one david roger"
