My GF and I were standing outside of a bar after a pool tournament. (Yes, her team won, as usual) a young teenaged girl walked up to us. She had a tiny kitten. I said "what acute kitten" and she said "Do you want her? My Dad is going to kill her if I can't find a home for her" I said we already had 3 cats and really could not have another....but I told her if she wanted, we would go into the bar and see if anyone else wanterd her.
I told her to "stay put".
Kim and I went into the bar, showed several people the kitten...no one wanted her, so we came back out.
No girl.
tatoo'd tweaker still on the pay phone stared laughing...said "soon as you guys hit the door, that girl ran"
The kittens name is "Runner"
She is the best shop cat I have ever had. OK, so she is also the ONLY shop cat I have ever had, but she is sweet, playful, sleeps right through alarms, subwoofing, air nailers, air compressors....anything except the fridge being opened.
That is where her food is kept.
She has doubled (or trippled) in size in 3 weeks, rides back and forth every day to work with me, seems very well adjusted. Soon she goes to the vet for shots and such.

That's a really cool story, and cat.
I miss my kittah. Had her since I was like 3, she died just after she turned 20 (in real years). I'm waiting until a get my own place to get another one, God I love cats (dogs do absolutely nothing for me).
