I saw this on the local news, here in Indio!
I saw that blue hatch get crushed...and my heart literally fell! That hatch was CLEAN! None of those cars look ricey, and if I had seen any of those on the street, and then seen how that raped every thing on the road, I'd have a lot of respect for them.
That's just frickin GAY! They are crushing perfectly good cars! The state could make money off putting the car up for auction.
I totally disagree with what they're doing. Quite honestly, if I was about to get caught, I'd try to get away, then part it out before the cops come to my house. Or, what someone else said - they'd have to earn it.
I'd die if I had to watch my car get crushed...I don't know what I'd do.

It's funny listening to guys in their early 20's talk about cars, let alone the government. I know it's funny, because I used to talk/think like this.
If you are out racing on public roads, putting the public at danger, using stolen car parts... fuck you and your car, I say crush the bastard.
As far as the government is concerned, do you really think they need the cash from a couple rice burners. It's all about making a statement, scaring the shit out of young guys and trying to reduce the amount of accidents & crimes associated with it.

You can destroy a family, kill someones entire future over trying to be king ricer. You're right the gov't could care less about the few thousand they could make off those cars. They have to get a court order for it to happen. That means they have to prove beyond reasonable doubt to a judge that they are stolen or made from stolen pieces.
The parts on these cars are stolen. Does anyone get that. No matter how much the government could get for it, they can not advocate selling stolen things. I'ts recovered stolen property, and they do what they usually do with it.
On top of that, these assholes were endangering lives. So like I said earlier, fuck those guys and smash that shit.

How hard is it for a bunch of cops to convince a judge that the "young street racer kid" is using stolen parts? I bet that its just like the kids explaining to the cops when they get pulled over, everybody considers their comments worth crap.
My cousin has a motor swap. If a cop checked and saw that the motor/tranny has different vins from the car, does that make it stolen? He bought it fully legit from hmotorsonline, but I can bet that if we had to track down the vins it would be a damn hard time.
Do wrecking yards log everything they buy/sell down to the piece? What if it was missing a vin and you really bought it off a yard, stolen?
If the cops tried to do that to me I'd get away or die trying. Fucking dictators in our government are ruining everything.

the VIN needs to be destroyed, removed or altered. So if the VIN tag was removed from the motor, then that is suspect. If the VIN is simply different and proof of purchase is available then there is no reason to think that they would do that.
Regardless, if these guys weren't complete fucking idiots then this wouldn't happen to them. IMO racing on a road is just as bad as driving drunk. It would be okay if they were endangering just their lives, but when me and my family and my friends are at danger because one of these assholes wants to race, it's a completely different story.

IMHO, if you have modified your car to 350+hp and intend to use it in street racing, you are a ricer. I don't care what kind of car you have, keep it on the track.
No porsches, vettes etc. will be crushed because they more than likely have the VIN still in tact on all parts.

This is why they are rice, fucking idiots watch fast and the furious 128973 times and think its real life, and then they are gonna race ja rule or who ever the hell was in it.
What I have read is that they normally to impound, take, and part the cars out for the money. The reason behind doing this is it apparently is more effective if you see all your hard work and money go to waste instead of just being parted.
