I agree. We have become so terrified of bad things that can happen that we don't mind trading out civil liberties in exchange for a false sense of security. Even in retail stores nowadays, the customers are so brainwashed that if they are exiting the store and buzzer goes off they will stand there and wait for someone to come search their bags. A lady in the store today was complaining that she could not get out of the store because the device kept buzzing when all she had to do was walk out the door and ignore the buzzer. At least that's what I do. If I didn't steal anything, then I am not obligated to prove it. If there is a guy standing there who asks to see my reciept and or demands to look through my bags I will refuse and ask to see the manager. And when he goes to get the manager, I walk out the door.

Its not like they sit there and monitor everyone phone calls, they would have to pick you out for some reason. Just like a phone tap, they don't listen to EVERYONE in the country just the ones that are deemed necessary.

I think giving up my right for that does more good than harm, but I do see where it gets stupid when people lay back and give up their rights just because it doesn't "apply to them."

One thing that I cannot stand is how airport security randomly selects people for re-screening at the gate prior to getting on the plane. I mean if they have to recheck people, then its obvious that someone isn't doing their job properly on the front end.

And then if you get pulled out of the line they search your carry-on bags. And its embarassing as you stand there beside the gate as everyone walks by and watches you get undressed as they pick through your underwear and other unmentionables. And then being that you are the last one on the plane, everyone else gives you a dirty look as if you caused the delay in the flight.
