Ask them questions back. You can know your shit, but they don't want someone who doesn't seem interested.

Not for Lens Crafters. But this type of job is different. This is one of these jobs where your 5th grade arithmetic becomes useful because if you are working in the lab there are certain fundamental skills that they are going to expect you to have and if you can't prove that you have these skills or even have an idea as to what they are talking about, then you will get laughed out the door.

Make sure you know how to properly read and pronounce measurements, numbers and decimals. If you don't know what the 3rd tick mark after the 2 on a ruler represents, you better learn. Also make sure you know the difference between centimeters, millimeters, and a meter. And as far as decimals go, make sure you know the difference between 0.26, .026 and .0026 and how to properly say those numbers. If you say "twenty-six thousandths" when its really "twenty-six hundredths" you might make a mistake and give someone coke bottle glasses when their vision impairment is relatively mild. Being able to convert decimals into fractions off of the top of your head will prove to be very useful also. Even though the computer will do most of the calculations, sometimes people make mistakes.
