    Die Hard IV review..

So I saw Live Free or Die Hard last night and here's my take on it (I won't give away the movie):

I feel the need to compare it to the very first die hard made back in '88 and see how much they diverted from the original idea. First, this movie reminded me of where "16 blocks" meets "24". Trying to show that a rogue NYPD cop can still prevail in a technologically advanced world. Even though there was alot more action, it was unfortunately unbelieveable that a man can actually survive most of what John McClaine was subjected to. The terroristic tactics of the antagonist was unrealistic and not consistent throughout the movie. There were many "exceptions to the rule" that I had to let slide. If I took this movie for what it was worth, which was good action sequences, then yes, it was entertaining.

The story line was OK, it was developed nicely. The bad guy in the movie is Timothy Olyphant, who was that 20 something porn star guy in the movie, "the girl next door". He actually had a couple of funny one liners.

The thing that pissed me off about this movie is its PG-13 rating. They had some obvious scene-chopping due to the language that I can only imagine will be in the "unrated" DVD version... But it was pretty lame seeing John McClaine saying shit and ass and dick without saying Fuck. He does drop the F bomb once in the end in an obvious nostalgic fashion, referrring to the original die hard...

He does have a daughter, if you couldnt tell by the coming attractions, but that story-line is waning, especially when they make it painstakingly obvious that they try to refer to the similarities of John's relationship with his daughter that he once had with his wife, Holly.

The acting was OK. The Mac guy was a pretty good actor actually. It was just unrealistic and there were so many loopholes in the story that I couldn't take any of it for what it was worth. Good action movie though.

    It was fucking awesome.

I could say a few things were unrealistic... but just 10-20 years ago the big action movies were so much more unrealistic, the main character never suffered a scratch. Obviously die hard movies aren't like that. And come on, it's John McClane. I didn't even realize it was PG-13. Oh well it was still good and very well could be the best movie I see all summer. Go see it. I honestly think it compares to the others.

I saw it and agree with the two above posts. Most stuff is unrealalistic, but that is what all movies are like. Very entertaining.
