Not to take away from anyone's current questions or whatever, but I have one of my own... I might have asked it before for all I know, and someone else may have as well, I did some searching here and on a few other forums like xdtalk.com...

Everyone loves a Mosin, amirite? Now that that's cleared up, it seems there's a wide variety of models and years and what not... I'm not looking for the best of the best, cause hey, it's going to mostly be a fun gun... Doesn't need to be pristine, but who wants something falling apart.. Anyone offer up any suggestions on model, year, and WHERE to buy these historic badass boomsticks?

Hey Bishop! Look in Shotgun News, J&G Sales usually has them at decent prices and pallets of ammo too. If you can swing it get a Finnish M39, they're like an Alpina Mosin. Heavier Barrel, good sights, exellent trigger compared to a Soviet 91/30. If you want a light show at dust pick up one of the carbines like the M44.

AIM Surplus usually carries them in stock.

Sweet. If I can't get my hands on the Alpina of Mosins are they all pretty much just as good / fun?

They are far more consistent/accurate, than a 91/30. I have one that the bore is kinda dark, and will still put up a 5" group at 100yds with surplus crap. The combo of great trigger work and better sights and heavy barrel make all the difference. They're worth the extra cash in my mind, unless you're just looking for a cheap blaster.

I have another one fitted with a scope, and shooting some Russian "Hunting" ammo that I later found out, comes from the same factory that makes sniper ammo, prints respectable groups till the mount starts to wander. IIRC in the 2-3" range.

Alright I'll look. It's more of a fun gun than something I want to be terribly accurate...

Then a 91/30 might just be the ticket for ya. They're quite reasonable to purchase and come with accesories. But I think the Bayonets need some fitting, or at least that's what I've read about some of them.

Alright good to know. I don't think I'll be terribly disappointed and not trying to spend over say, $130 or so...

So I just inherited a Colt Python, it's in holding at a dealer waiting for me to get my pistol permit. I was also thinking of picking up a semi auto pistol, leaning towards glock 31, anyone have recommendations of something else I should be looking at, or insight on the pistol?

It is an H&K MP5k-PDW clone that I built, not AR-15 built but actually bent the flat and welded everything. It is a title I gun with a 16" barrel, 10.5" is an extension and a 5.5" barrel. It is chambered in 9x19.

You get your stuff from Turner? I know it's off the wall, but is there a build thread?
