Since we're on the topic of 1911's...
Just picked this up (used) on Monday. In NY, these are never cheap, but it was a solid deal that i couldn't pass up! Ran a few mags through it and shoots very nicely. The night sights aren't bad either.
Springfield "Champion" 1911, 4" barrel:

Hey guys, seeking some compact 1911 advice. I am trying to decide between almost ^this exact model (w/ 4" barrel) or the Springfield EMP in 40. This will be a carry piece, so any thoughts on which is the better option? They are both pricey, but I think they are both solid investments.
Any advice is appreciated!Comment

Have you carried much?? Are you comfortable with condition 1 carry?? Do you have the time and willingness to devote it to training to carry a S/A pistol??
If the answer to any of these is NO, maybe, or not really sure. Stick with a D/A or D/A-S/A with out a external safety to flub if you ever need it. I would look at Sig 220 as its a single stack and has a similar feel and pattern to the 1911.The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. -Alexis de TocquevilleOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

Waiting on my holster to come in the mail, so cant speak to carrying the gun quite yet. But, it's noticeably heavier than my Ruger SR9C (obviously) and a little bigger in overall length. I tried it out in one of my other holsters just for kicks. Can hide it, but not as easily as a more compact gun (like the Ruger). I think the biggest thing is the length of the grip. The 1911 has a pretty long grip with the single stack 7/8rd .45acp which is a little tougher to hide.Hey guys, seeking some compact 1911 advice. This will probably be my "cooler weather" carry gun, when i can conceal it with a flannel shirt, hoody, jacket, etc. For summer time carry (at least for my scrawny ass) it's just too big. The SR9C I can hide mad easily with just a tshirt and IWB holster, i carry that all the time. 10rds of 9mm self defense ammo should do the trick, should the need arise
Although, they now make the SR9C in .40. Same size. Wasnt out when i got the 9. Oh well.
Also, see you're in CT. Where at? PM me if you want.
Some pics for reference:

All good points! If i carry at work, it has to be condition 3. Good link though, lots of useful info/tips for those that want to or currently do carry.^

I love the shit out of my Colt Commander. Its a little heavy but carries well with a good belt in my mtac holster. Barrel length isn't really a concern for carry. The grip frame is long and you will probably print. I will carry mine though year round, knowingly printing, and no one has ever said anything to me.Hey guys, seeking some compact 1911 advice. If you shoot the gun well, I would get the EMP. I shot one in 9mm and it was one of my favorite 9s I've handled. Regardless, train with what you carry.Comment
