It's based on Taurus hate. I'll admit that's the only reason I won't buy one myself. I too have heard great reviews about Taurus in the last 5 or so years. I really don't think you can lose on it at $199. Even if it is a turd, from what I hear,Tauruseses carry a great warranty.

On an unrelated note, does anyone know anything about hi power clones? I've been looking at kareens and FEG surplus trade ins to tinker with and modify. I figured for ~$250 even if i bubba the shit out of it it's worth the learning experience. I just don't know which are considered better or if there's no difference.

IMO Taurus has stepped it up dramatically in the last 4-7 years when it comes to their Q/C. That said I sill dont think I would want to trust my life to one of their auto loaders even if its one of the newer ones, I will say I do like their wheel guns much better than the auto loaders, they are also NO S&W either.

In this case where cost is a big deciding factor, and this is a case of something is more than likely going to be better than nothing I can see people going this route. My self personally, I dont like the idea of trusting my life to a pocket pistol in general, but since I do have one and I got a great deal on it I do have a LCP C/T.

        This ^^^

Right now the only pocket pistol i would consider would be the Sig P238 or Sig P938 but BIG money!

I dont like the 238's because they are SAO and IIRC just a licensed copy of the Colt Mustang. If I had not run across the LCP when I did for the price I did, I would have gotten a 239, DA/SA as its just a scaled down version of the traditional Sig 220/229/226 lay out. While the 232 is a DA/SA as well it just did not fell right in my hand and just feet very awkward to try and manipulate any of the functions on it.

The 938 is just the 9mm version of the 238 so, not up my alley either. I not a big 9mm fan even in small pistols, the 380 at very close range with a good 90ish grain SD round will do the job. Out side of that I am subscriber to BIG, HEAVY, and SLOW for S/D knock down power is hard to argue with when your trying to stop a threat.

there is a smith&wesson forum where people who express anything but disdain for Tauri get treated worse than poor GWB over on the P&R forum. Taurus is the poster child for you get what you pay for.

really surprised nobody has mentioned Kahr Arms. they sell a .380 locked breech striker fired pistol (CW380) for MSRP $420.

              To the haters:

I have a Taurus TCP. I have had it 2 years 800+ rounds through it. Very accurate at self defense distance (7 yards) Its light and easy to conceal.

Sometimes you don't wanna have a bunch of weight hanging off your hip or in your pocket.

Its a great gun. And to the people knocking the price, the Ruger runs the same. I bet you wouldn't say the about a Ruger, but because its a Taurus you give it slack.

Here is mine. Nitesites 3 dot, Tractiongrips and Pearce grip extension

I've held and extensively fired the Ruger too (buddy has one). I am able to aquire sights faster on the Taurus, I like the fact the slide locks back on the last round unlike the Ruger plus its a tad bigger and feels better in my hand.

              Just my .02 cents

I got my AT&T rifle yesterday, just waiting on the Scope mount for it, so I can get it all put together. Then I will post a pic or 2. I will am going to say, I have not really messed with one of these other than very seldom, and the quality, of manufacture and the fit & Finish on this thing is INCREDIBLE. Kuddos to the Finns for building what truly is one of the very very best off the shelf production rifles around.

As long as I have it before Jan 1, 2014 I'm good. Only reason I am able to get this one is because a wise customer of mine bought them on Christmas and offered me to buy one now that they came in. $10, a trip to the local state police barracks, and were good to go!

If my business wasn't too young to up and relocate, I would.

Picked this up last week, friend out in MT sold it to me. 1958 Belgian made Browning A5. Plan for now is to restore it then use it for skeet/trap shooting.

Sweet! Have you found an upper yet? Buy whatever you can at this point! What are your plans for it?

I want to get a beater Browning A5 to chop down into a legal length "whippet" gun. A few were for sale locally but they are either too nice to cut up or are too expensive for a beater gun. The search continues...

I picked mine up for $350 shipped. It's rough but should clean up nicely.
