I know you said no 380's but for me I cant really conceal, my fatness gets in the way, a 9mm. I went and looked at a LC9 and a LCP. The LCP is so much easier to conceal. It would be a great backup gun. However, when the weather facilitates shorts and tshirts, I cant conceal anything unless its like an LCP. I didnt, however, get a chance to hold a Kahr be it the cm9/cm40. Conceal the biggest caliber you can, for me, at times, that is only the 380.

Being fat makes it easier to conceal IMO. I'm 6'1" and at the time I owned my full size XDm I was pushing 380. Concealed it like it was nothing lol

Also: Any reason for not wanting the XDS or one of the pocket Glocks?

I'm pretty sure I'd be more effective throwing my friend's LCP than I am shooting it. The trigger pull is really awkward for large hands. The P290(RS) feels larger than it is, and the night sights and a laser both coming standard on it are a nice bonus. It was the clear winner for me among the single stacks within my budget.

I have a crossbreed but it seems that the bottom of the handle sticks out due to my fat roll, which I'm losing weight. With a nice pocket gun and lots of practice, I think I can become proficient with it. Also, knowing this is a gut buster gun and I wont be doing any 25yrd shots with it.

I carry in the 4 1/2 position with the gun tilted towards the front of my body. I'm still new at it, but to me I can see the gun pretty easy. Could just be me being over thinking it...oh well, I do get to get a new gun :D

When I went to the gun store I looked at a LC9 and the LCP next to each other, the LCP is just soo much easier to conceal. The LC9 isnt too much smaller than my XD subcompact.

Not a glock fan, but I am looking at getting a double stack 9 around the 4" barrel length. Been looking at getting a M&P9 or a G19. Have a XD and was wanting something different, although the XD in the 4" version would still fit my holsters.

XDS is too big to pocket carry IMO and Glock doesn't make a pocket 9mm, please don't say G26, might as well stuff a brick in my pocket. I'm think the Kahr CM9 is the winner based on the size criteria and caliber requirement. Ehhh, maybe the P290...the quality reports seem hit or miss.

Shield is still to big to pocket carry, LC9 might be an option but the LCP is soo much better.

I love my lc9, but you gotta have some huge pockets to conceal it. Overall size isn't much smaller than my 4013, but its paper thin.

I can carry it IWB at 3 o'clock without issue.

.380 = 9mm (in diameter). In fact, .380 is sometimes called "9mm kurz", or "short" in Europe. Although the bullets share the same diameter, they are world's apart in terms of ballistic performance. Stick with 9mm, if you can.

I would think that if you can conceal a .380 semi-auto, you should be able to conceal a 9mm. Have you tried a S&W Shield or Springfield 9mm XDS? The Shield has been one of the lightest and thinnest 9mm's I've handled. Kahr makes another good alternative.

If you're sticking with .380's, try S&W's Bodyguard. My gf has one and it definitely can be carried in a front pocket.

I have an M&P Shield, that is my primary IWB carry. I'm looking for a deep concealment pocket 9 that I can throw in a pair of dress slacks or while wearing shorts and t-shirt at the park. I used to have a S&W Bodyguard 380 and it was the perfect size for that, but I just don't like the 380 caliber, moved up to the Diamondback DB9 due to it's 380ish size but even with a firm ass grip and 200+ rounds through it I wasn't getting 100% reliability. So yeah, I have the subcompact IWB carry covered, need a POCKET 9mm and there only appear to be a few viable choices out right now.

There really isnt a 9mm out there that can be as small as say the LCP. Let's be honest, all pistol calibers suck, but they conceal better than a rifle. Right now, I'm not able to carry anything when the warmer weather hits. I tried looking at the LC9 with the LCP and the LCP is just soo much easier to conceal.

You're in the same boat I am in. I've been looking at ballistics testing of the 380 and it seems the ball rounds are what most carry instead of the hallow points. I'd rather have a gun on me than just relying on my knife.
