    5.1 vs 2.1 is no kind of contest. Spend the money and do 5.1, or you'll wish you had later.

      well, minus the 3 extra satelite (sp?) speakers, im assuming there is an increase in bass and wattage rating?

        I don't know, you would have to post the specs of each system. But it's quite simple.

        5.1 = surround sound. good.

        2.1 = stereo. shit.

          you know, you would think so, but im VERY surprised with the quality of this system, esp for the low price I paid for it. Im sure whoever else owns it would concur. Ill find the specs and post.

            If you are going to be listening to music, get the 2.1 system. If you are going to be watching movies, get the 5.1 system.

                Then 5.1 is the obvious choice.

                  Are you deadset on the 2.1? Because you seem to not really be interested in the fact that 5.1 is going to be better sound PERIOD, regardless of media.

                  I'm sorry, I just can't stand threads like this, where people ask for advice between 2 things, but already seem to have their mind made up on one.

                    all im really saying is that I am impressed with the 2.1 system. Im happy w the system, but i want to know if the 5.1 is worth the extra money.

                    Im an equal opinion poster ;)

                      In my opinion then, anything is going to sound better in 5.1 than it will in 2.1. 2.1 is stereo, plain and simple. 5.1 is surround sound, and will sound better.

                      Yes, it is worth the extra money. There, that's MY opinion.

                        I hate music in surround.

                        Buy 5.1 no matter what.

                        before you buy, give Logitech a listen. My old Z760 smoked the Klipsch 4.1

                          In a car, yes. I agree. WAY too confined. But in your house, at your desk, in the living room, surround is much better.

                            I disagree. I have DVD-A and SACD playback in my living room. I have about 20 surround disks, even some that are highly regarded. I am just a 2 channel kind of guy.

                            Movies, however, are a different story altogether.

                              Not sure about this system, but a lot of them can be setup to play music through only the 2 front satellite speakers and sub. So it should be a non-issue.
