First post here, I have a 1986 318is and I'm so glad to see there are a lot of guys here for the same thing, the love of e30s. First off my car is all stock, I have done a tune up so now what is a good performance mod? I was thinking of turbo charging but isn't that expensive? Thanks, Gabreil

turbocharging costs depend on how good of a set up you want. in terms of reliablity, boost, etc

Firstly, welcome!
Secondary - It may not sound too glamourous, but you might want to address the suspension & various bushings before proceeding to get positive manifold pressure (turbo, super, whatever) - your car is over 20 years old and all the rubber parts are either worn or rotten, and putting the strain of a turbo on all those parts will certainly tear any life left in them to shreds.
This will also give you a chance to add some bigger sway bars, a better set of shocks & springs, and a front stress bar.
Then address the lack of HP.
It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.
