    Cop no chasing policy?

In florida? I heard some fellow rambling about it in the local grocery supermercado, that the cops won't chase ya in florida. Instead they just come to your house later...Any truth behind this? If so, anyone had any experiences or know about any?

No, my cousin lives in Gainesville and was robbed at gun point last month. They took his wallet and car but not his call phone. After they took off he called the cops with the cell phone that they didn't bother to take. He told them what the car was, a 63 buick. And when it was called over the radio, a cop heard it and seen the car cruise by. They did chase the robbers at speeds up to 125mph. But it ended up that the robbers ran into a house. The robbers was 16 and 15 years old.

don't know about the state of FL, but there's a locality near me that has a no pursuit policy. All the drug dealers and toads love it . They cite reasons of public safety, and risk (fear) of litigation as their reasoning behind it.

I know a guy who lives on the eastern shore in Virginia where they have that rule and he thought he could get away but the cops still chased him, caught him, and cuffed him. He said, "I thought you guys couldn't chase me!" and the cop said, "Oh yeah? Who are you gonna tell?"

The "no-chasing" thing is more of a police department policy than it is a law so really its left up to the officers judgement. If he decides to engage in a high-speed persuit and a couple of people get hurt as a result, he could probably lose his job. But if he goes against the department policy and catches the guy and nobody gets hurt, then he is commended.
