I've bought one PC in my life off the shelf, it was a P1 90mhz, 8mb of ram 810mb hdd Packard Bell with a 15" monitor. It was IIRC 2900 for the PC and another 400+ for the monitor. Since then I've built and upgraded my pc's countless times.

The current tower itself is about 6 years old, it's been a home to probably 5 motherboards and countless cpu's, power supplys etc. P4 cpu, asus P4P800 asus mb, ati 9800 pro video, 20" widescreen, 2gb of ram, 2x200 gb hdd's, m-audio audiophile 24/96 audio card. I know it's out of date by todays standards, but I don't play many games that often or rip video, so it does everything else just fine. If it wasn't for games PC's wouldn't be obsolete every 6-12months imho.

                      Mines cobbled crap from work.

My last computer I built was a 3.0 HT p4 with a really nice abit motherboard. I forget the exact specs.

I have the same CPU, but I have a mobo I took from work because it was busted, my abit one shit out on me, I have ram that crashed the computer if you max it out, again from work. And 600gb or so of HD space for all the shit I download.

I used to build a new computer every year by reselling my old stuff so I would never have to spend a lot of money on a new one. But I just quit caring after a while.

                      edit:

Oh I have a 2 year old compaq nc8000 laptop. I got it when it was a few years old anyways, but it kicks ass for school. 1.8 centrino with everything built in, 15" screen, and a 40gb HD I believe.

That reminds me of being in Rio, using the intranetz oftenz and hearing my broder trip out and rip me for being on it all the time. 9th floor of a uprise (no surprise) in Botafogo with Sugarloaf right outside the window, smoking a spliff, drinking ready to go out at around 2:00am.....

The image is not attaching. Our languages on the PC is what I was getting at... Living in the US, it's different to use a PC with an OS in our language every now and agian.
