Does anyone here know why Bush is so insistent on short range ballistic missle in EU?

So I'm reading the above article, and sort of wondering to myself who or what is a threat that we feel we need missles there?

I'm far from a peace-loving hippie - so if anyone here understands the strategy for the missles, and especially at the cost of our so-so relationship with Russia, then please explain.

It doesn't seem the missles would reach as far south as Iran/Iraq - or as far east as Afganistan or Pakistan, so what within the range of these missles is something we find a threat?

Something still going on in Bosnia? - That's my only guess, and a total shot in the dark at that.

Unless we are being fed total misinformation (totally possible), Korea would be out of range for missiles they want to park in Poland.

Not impossible for sure, but you think we'd just park some missiles on the tip of AK or in the Aleutians or else down on one of the smaller islands outside the main 5 of Hawaii.

I have no problems with Bush's missle plan, in fact, I feel we should have more missle facilities located all over the world. Maybe if Kevin agrees we will put some missles on that secret inside part of the Earth. ;)

Its a heck of a lot of better than calling them rag-heads, I view Arabs as a politically correct name.

As for Bush's plan I agree with it, it is only to strengthen the defense of our nation, but he could be working on a lot more important things then that.
