They've been broken up for seven years. They just got back together so therefore I believe they now will start getting a much larger listening audience. I was at Rock The Bells which is billed as a hip hop concert. Not to stereo type but I would have to guess that a decent majority of the hip hop crowd would be Black people. Of the 65,000 people there black people seemed to be few and far between. It was obvious from the audience reaction to the bands that came before rage and then how pumped they where for Rage that Rage has a huge fan base.
I believe their message is more relevant today than it was eight years ago. Remember they broke up before September 11th. I believe that we as a nation are begging for change much more now than we were then.
If they believe that none of these Presidents are doing a good job then it can never get old. That's the point. If they believed in modern politics they would have nothing to sing about. I garuntee their are a few people on this board who don't believe in what has happened in the last thirty years of our nations history. If those of us who are not happy with the way it is gave up trying to change things and became complacent with, it is what it is, the world would go down the shitter. I don't believe believeing and pursuing what you believe in ever gets old.

Rage was rocking for 8 years before they broke up... they never changed anything with their message (even though I believe in it for the most part).
Rage is, however, my favorite band of all time and I'll be seeing them in SF this weekend.Leave a comment:

Tom Morello is an admitted socialist, so no, they cannot change the world for the better. Good music and lyrics, for the most part, but listening to them bash every presidency gets a bit old after a while.Leave a comment:

I agree with you that their lyrics are good about having a message but I honestly do not think that a large part of today's society really listens to Rage... and do not see them changing society for the better because of this. But rather maybe changing the acutal listeners of their music to a degree that listens to them on a regular basis.Leave a comment:

I hear you but I believe you have to look at them as more than just good music. I believe the real point of the band is their message and the way that message can influence our society. Many bands have great tunes with lyrics that are cool and all but these guys have lyrics that I believe are powerful and could change society for the better.
If you don't listen to and try to understand their message, I believe you're missing the whole point of the band.Leave a comment:

Rage Against The Machine
I saw Rage last night at the Rock The Bells concert. I have to say they were amazing. I believe they will become the most important band of our generation based on their message. I truly believe they have the ability to effect and change the way the we think and can help, more than any other band, bring unity to the way we think as a society. Their message is more relevant today than it was ten years ago.
In my eyes they are the John Lennon of modern day.
