The walkie talkie feature is a real time saver. Answering a ringing phone is a PITA but a chirping walkie talkie can be ignored momentarily until you can respond.
Didn't one of the other carriers have something similar? And I think they called it "push to talk" or something like that. Did it ever catch on?Comment

I liked nextel when I was on their service and had 3 phones with them and was constantly being billed ( went on for 10 months ) a contruction companies phone bill as well every month, before telling them I was tired of making them correct their accounting mistakes and wanted out of my contract with no penalties... I ignored their mistake at first and just paid my bill and when this other company did not pay their bill and my shit got cut off it pissed me off. Their bill was always $3000 plus every month and this just got very old having to make a call to nextel about it every month... The worst thing about this was I am in East Tn. and this other company was from S. Cali so go figure. I would change back to them if it was not for this hassle that I had with them over this...Comment

Yeah, nextel gets on my nerves sometimes too. I almost cancelled them because some pencil-neck in their collections department wanted to play "nasty bill collector" with me. Typically I have a bad habit of not paying the cell bill on time and I will let a few months go by before I catch up on it. And at this particular time I had racked up about $1800 in charges (for 4 phones) and I called them up to make a payment. At first they gave me the run-around putting me through to different reps and me explaining that I just want to pay my bill.
Finally when they realize that I need to talk to someone in collections, this guy gets on the phone and starts yelling at me about why haven't I paid my bill and how this is unacceptable and then that fucker had the nerve to ask me, "So what do you plan on doing about this Mr. Scotty?"
And I am like, "Whoa, dude! Calm down! I called YOU to make the payment. Now you are treating me like I am attempting to duck and dodge you!" Long story short, I demanded to speak to a supervisor and they took $800 off the bill so I wouldn't cancel.Comment
