We looked at over 50 apartments in Sacramento and none of them would rent to us b/c of Hank. He is a staffy. 40 pounds of lazy ass dog too. We finally ended up renting a house from a dog lover. I know there is a website that can help with finding an apartment with a "bite dog" (bullshit if you ask me). Google it and I will ask my girl if she can remember. You can also post an ad in CL that's what we did.

A pit bull is simply not a good choice for an apartment dweller. It's a disservice to the dog.

How do you figure? American staffys are great apt dogs as long as you walk them. They slle most of their life away! You can crate train the piss out of them due to their nesting traits, and they love to sleep on couches. They run, but are not "running" dogs. A lab or a greyhound maybe, but not an american staffy, pit, or bulldog. I have ad two of the three and they were/ are great apt dogs.

you could call "her?" an American bulldog, similar looking and close "cousin" still a "bully breed " dog too.
you can be in for some issues with dogs/apartments, that's why i always rented houses and eventually bought a house, i have a 3 year old 135lb German rotti. people hear the breed freak out, see the size of him...freak out, if i introduce them to Bernhald, and show them how obedient and well trained he is, it usually seals the deal.

you can look into getting some training for him and getting what is called a "canine good citizen" certification. that is usually enough to get you around any problems. it basically shows that while you may have an "aggressive breed" dog, your particular dog is well trained and behaved and does not pose a threat to the public. really dumb, but it was conceived by people like you and i that have "dangerous dog" as a way to calm the uneducated public

I admire the fact that you aren't giving up the dog for the sake of an apartment, that is like one of my biggest pet peeves when pussies give up an animal because they are 'too much trouble'. Fucking losers should have thought of that BEFORE they got a pet.

Anyhow, if you explain your situation to landlords & offer to give a few extra hundred $$ for possible pet damage (get a contract in writing to get the money back) - you'll be surprised how many will work with you, especially if you get a bond on your dog. I know a few people who carry half-million dollar bonds on their bull breed dogs just to make things go smoothly while living in a city with a "dangerous breed". I believe they got their bonds through Lloyd's of London - not sure.

Here is my dog, "Sadie" with my 1 year-old daughter. Amazingly loving dog and very patient with the kid. When she's had enough of the baby's abuse, she walks away. Pretty cool

Correct. The term "pit" is the catch-all that people use - but just putting Staffordshire on a apt app doesn't fool anyone, and I think that was what was being suggested & why I wrote that.

You are correct though, theres Staffies, APBTs, & I forget the correct term for the Spuds McKenzie dog, it's like American Bull Terrier - the ones with the skull that bridges into the nose.

Yeah, they really should have considered all of the pros and cons ahead of time but I have to give respect to the people who have the balls to admit that they made a mistake and realized that the situation with the dog just isn't working out for them.

I do property management myself and I had a tenant who had a cocker spaniel that stayed locked in the spare bedroom most of the time. The tenant lined the entire floor with heavy plastic and he would just let the dog piss and shit right in the room. His job kept him on the road most of the time so he had his brother come over a couple of times a day to give the dog food and water. Other than that the dog was never walked and hardly ever had any social interaction with people.

The situation in there was BEYOND disgusting! I figure that the worst thing you could ever do to a dog is to keep it confined 20+ hours a day.

China passed her interview! haha! I went by the vet stating I lost her tag showing her rabies was up to date, paid $5 and asked them to also "correct" her breed to Bull Dog. The lady responded with "why" and I said well, cause she is a bull dog and not a pit bull. She smiled and said, oh, ok I get it. So I took China in with the form and she took care of the rest. She's such a sweetie when she needs to be. Some jackazz standing around, blurts out "man, that's a pit bull" to which I barely refrained from telling him to go f himself in the middle lane of the Tollway. Anyways, we're in even though I imagine there will be some residents that will go talk shi'ite to the office about how she looks.....
