    10 years sober today.

Today I am sober 10 years.

Anyone who knew me before would be shocked and amazed at that fact.

    I know I am.

It really is not that big of a deal, but for a chronic pothead/alcoholic who slowly lost their way and the ability to function in life without some kind of chemical help, it is a real accomplishment.

I don't feel proud about this, no one deserves a trophy for running out of a burning building, but 10 years completely sober....and still happy...is a big deal to me.

I can tell you how to do it, too.

    1. Don't drink or use drugs.
    2. Don't die.

Just thought I would share this with you guys.

    Luke

Congrats man! I had a stepdad that was an alcholic, hasn't changed yet and his life reflects that but I am glad he is out of my life. He tried to quit and I know how big of a deal it is.

Good on ya, Luke. It may not be trophy worthy, but still quite an accomplishment to be proud of.

On that note, what the heck do the "Uff-da" stickers mean? Aren't those an AA thing?

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

congrats, how clear does your mind feel? i blaze and drink pretty regularly not enough to be an alcoholic. i was in rehab for weed when i got arrested and stopped smoking for that and one thing i remember about it was how clear headed i felt when i was sober, especially when waking up in the morning.

dude dont down play that shit. that is huge. congratulations. i have 26 years of sobriety last june and if there were a cure that would allow me to drink socially like normal people i would not take it. there are a lot of people who lost money on me 26 years ago betting id never make it. but i did. keep it up fucker. for me, life is better sober than it ever was at any point using any kind of chemical.

                      congrats dude,

My father in law was an addict, living under a bridge in Miami. He is now a rehab counselor, clean 15 years and still fighting.
