Because no one really thinks about it until it actually happens to them.Leave a comment:

I don't know why people always have to learn the hard way when it comes to backing up stuff. I too learned the hard way but I bit the bullet and bought the $50 program.Leave a comment:

Holy mother of God, it fucking worked. God bless the internet and illegally downloaded software.
I know what I'm doing tomorrow... it starts with a b and rhymes with stackup.Leave a comment:

I found a program that might just do the trick. I had to *gasp* illegally download it, but I'll live with the guilt.Leave a comment:

Are the videos on the C partition, or on a separate partition or drive?
If you only have one partition then keep in mind the more you write to that partition then the more likely you'll overwrite the files you're trying to recover. So downloading files and installing recovery programs may overwrite the files you want to save.
So if that's the case you may want to turn off the computer, pull the drive, and use another computer to recover the files from that drive.
I have Ontrack's Easy Recovery Professional, but it's a couple years old and I don't know if it works with Vista. It works fine with XP. If you want to "borrow" it then let me know.Leave a comment:

System restore does not restore personal documents, so if it is the same in Vista as it is in XP that will not help.Leave a comment:

not familiar with vista yet but xp has a built in system restore that you can go back to a certain date and restore it to that date and time. Maybe vista has something like thatLeave a comment:
