    bit torrent questions

im new to the new torrent idea, and dont really understand it totally but here are my questions.

Im using utorrent. I download torrents via miranova, pirates bay, whatever the case. When the torrent is done, how do I get it to play? Ive been right clicking, open containing folder, and there is usually a readme file, one that has the windows media player start button, and maybe a few others. Whenever I go to click on what appears to be the movie, windows media opens, and says "waiting for codec server download" or something similar. Then it says, "error downloading codec".

Im wondering whats going wrong, and is there any easier way to view the files.

I need this too - I have a Backstreet Boys CD, - errr, I mean the Transformers movie I need a code to make play.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Isnt it obvious? You're missing the required codecs needed to play the files. Has nothing to do with bit torrent.

Grab this codec pack, it'll have pretty much anything you need. http://www.cccp-project.net/

Also, you could download FLV Player if you don't want to download all those codecs. It'll play pretty much whatever you throw at it.

Or VLC player, it's the gold standard by which all other video players are judged.

          Or something like that.

+2 VLC is the way to go.

Also never hurts to install the following:
                • FFDshow (to play Xvid, DivX, x264, MPEG2, listen to MP3, AAC, Vorbis, AC3, DTS)
                • Haali mediasplitter (to play files with multiple audio and subtitles and mp4 containers)
                • Vobsub (to view subtitles)
                Use google to find them.
                tasty

I just use Kazaa Mega Codec Pack. Never not had a codec I needed. Also has a Quicktime substitute that actually works.
