What didn't you get? They're dead, and stuck on the alternate side of the living world, just like all the people in Silent Hill. They died when the town burned, Rose and Sharon (who was just the physical manifestation of Alessa) died when she crashed her car as they were going into Silent Hill, and the cop died when she wrecked her bike. That's why when they tried to go back out the way they came, the road was gone. They were only able to get back out at the end because Rose had set Alessa free and given her the chance to exact her revenge on the people of Silent Hill for what they did to her.

Ahhhhhhhh, I get it now. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I never thought that they were all dead. But now it makes sense. That cop coulda frisked me anyday.

I never played the game, my wife threw the movie in one night, I sorta got sucked into it. It was good I thought. Wish they would make a sequel....cuz the ending sort of left me hangin.....
