I like using a micro fiber towel with some glass cleaner sprayed directly on the towel. Wipe with damp side then flip and polish dry... At least thats how I do mine and have not had any problems doing it that way from day one...

Generally just a soft cloth damp with pure water is all you need, and is what is recommended in your manual.

              thx all for the help

not to jack my own thread, but im having trouble getting my surround sound to work. the tv is an LG plasma, and the theater is an LG 5.1 surround sound. Ive talked with some people, and they tell me it wont work when im watching TV no matter what i do. But... I cant even get my rear speakers to play when I hook up the Ipod or play DVD's. Adding to my frustration, the bass sounds like doo doo. While I dont really expect this thing to bump, i would expect it to sound a bit better than speakers that came out of a fucking Yugo.

Ive read the manual through and through, but it doesnt seem to be helping. Further more, I cant tell my remotes apart from eachother, and frankly I think LG Simplink should be relabeled Complexlink. The remotes love to fight over who does what function. What a barrel of monkeys.

I use glass cleaner and a paper towel since the outside surface of the screen is actually glass. On the other hand, I bought a special screen cleaner for my LCD TV that I buy from staples being that the surface is plastic.

As for your surround sound, play a DVD where there is a lot of shooting going on- Newer war movies tend to put the machine gun sounds in the rear speakers and that's when you are more likely to hear it. But for the most part, any audio that was not encoded into 5.1 will not play through the rear speaker.

water alone leaves streaks, mix it 50/50 with some isopropyl alcohol.

should the ipod play through 5.1?

Best Buy is where I bought it jordo, good guess.

Probably not unless a particular song was recorded for 5.1 surround. But there might be a setting where you can change the 5.1 setting so you can hear your music through all 5 channels. This all depends on what features your surround system has. I know the onkyo I had you were able to go in and change these settings depending on what kind of audio that was playing.

                          No.

And they make specific cleaners for plasma televisions.

Don't know about plasma's but my normal glass tube tv specifically says not to use glass cleaner. The ammonia will disintegrate the anti-glare coating on the glass. I've heard this is true about most tv's. I use endust electronics spray on all my monitors and tv's. It's inert and foams up good, so it wont run under the plastic frame and get things wet. Anyways you should always spray the towel, not the TV.

Why do things like this end up on r3v anyways? Since when is it easier to ask a car forum a question, then asking google?
