Atta boy - it's a good thing to know when you have grown beyond a place & doing something about it. You sound like life will go your way.

Also, attaboy for giving your 2 week notice. That will pay off for you down the line. It all goes towards personal conduct & character.

And my only bit of advice - NEVER take your hand off a chuck key while in a chuck. EVER. I got hired to one job I had because the last fellow wasn't so aware. I never met him, but I guess it flung loose squarely into his Adam's apple & was nearly the end of him. He tried to sue, but in the end even he knew he really only had himself to blame - at least L&I paid to fix him. I guess he doesn't quite have the same voice he had pre-accident either, but like I said I never met him.

    Anyhow, don't do that.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

        + 1 on that.

Also, NEVER wear jewelery of ANY kind while machining. Someone at the university machine shop left a ring on, and it got caught in a lathe (don't know why his hand was so close) and ripped it clean off! Lucky bastard got it reattached though (for free, public health care FTW).

        Keep it slideways!!

Did you ever make any manifolds for Burns Controls?

Congrats on the new job. Did you ask the new co. if they have school reimbursement program? You might actually qualify with some of your classes. If not take some that will qualify you.

You will hate the bitch work. Especially in production machine work. Very repetitive, and it gets boring.

Unless you REALLY put your mind to it, and learn whatever flavor of CAD software they use really fast, and get promoted to a CNC setup guy.

Be sure to show up with a cigarette hanging out of your mouth when you hand in your two weeks. Should go over real well.

I hate you. I would LOVE that job. I'm a Manufacturing Technology student myself.

                  But anyways, congrats man.
