    Need help with DMV bullshit

I recently got an insurance quote and the ins company says I have an at fault with injury accident on my record, but guess what, it never happened. I got a copy of my driving record from the DMV, and sure enough the accident is there, but the only info that I have on it is an FR Case No. I tried to get some more info on the case by calling my local sherriffs station, who told me to call the local court house, and ask someone in the public records office, noone could find anything.

I was hoping that one of the cops here could look into it for me and help me sort it out.

The info I have is as follows:

    04-06-05 99 Laguna Hills , this is the case #: 05-03-23911

And thats it, so please help me!!!!

    Thanks
    Devon

So you were never there the day the accident happened? At all?

Not even a car that was previously registered to you was there?

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

I have never been in an accident with injury, I have never been in an accident on April 6 ( I would remember, its my dads b-day and the day before mine), The only thing that I can think of that may relate is an accident my stepfather was in, as he is the only one in our family who has been in an accident with injury.

I dont know about any of this, and it was updated to my record either 5-11-04 or 5-25-05, but 6 months ago my previous insurance company never said anything about it.

Its an easy fix. Go to the Laguna Hills traffic court (or whatever the jurisdiction is) and ask the clerk how you would go about petitioning to have that removed being that you have NEVER been in an accident. And then if they cannot provide a police report or a written citation then they are obligated to remove it. Also ask your insurance company if they would be willing to refund the difference in the cost of your premium when you get your record fixed.

Yeah, I thought it might be my step brother, but AFAIK he was in colorado at the time. He hates me, as he thinks I am at fault for all of his fuck ups, but whatever.

If he did do it, and the local courthouse has a record, what do I do then?

Going to the local court tomorrow, hopefully they wont be able to find the report either.

              Thanks Guys

this is just a guess but i bet its your step brother and that indeed is the reason nobody can find the record. it happened in colorado and while states are connected (forget the name) electronically perhaps the record didnt transfer but only the entry on the computer showing an accident. you know what i mean>?? like when you get a ticket in another state and it transfers to your record in your home state?

Worst case scenario- if they have a police report and a copy of the citation you can still get an affidavit to prove where you were at the said time of the accident. Cases of stolen identitiy in this regard are very common and most court systems are good at sniffing this sort of thing out and knowing whether or not you are just trying to beat the rap or if your identity was legitmately stolen.
