    who uses...usenet?

I just signed up for the free trial because some of you guys were ranting and raving about it. I'm having a hard time understanding how it all works. I use a Mac and it seems like the programs they want me to use require me to use virtual PC. Is usenet a more "PC" friendly deal? or am I just retarded? I just want reliable, fast and safe downloads, and I' willing to pay for it. I'm gonna keep trying but some input would be awesome. Thanks,

    Ryan

Usenet is like a huge inbox with messages. Unless you subscribe to a commercial news provider (giganews , newscene and many others) or maybe your ISP has good retention you'll find out that you don't get all the parts or files.

Because files are huge, they will be split up in many chunks, you'll have to collect all of them to make a complete file. Not sure what MAC News readers are out there, see if there is a version of 'Agent' or 'Free Agent' for X if that's what you are running on the mac.
