    Anyone ever notice...

...that being sick with the flu is a lot like being REALLY hungover/still drunk?

This is my 3rd day home from work with the flu, and it just hit me how similar it is. My whole body feels like I got hit by a truck, if I stand up, I usually end up going right back down, and if I DO stay up, I can't walk in a straight line to save my life or see straight, I trip over everything and run into twice as much, I constantly feel like I'm going to yak, I have an AWFUL taste in my mouth, my head feels like a lead weight, and if I do manage the strength to try and eat something without puking, it tastes like it was on the floor of a bus.

Perhaps this is nature's way of reminding me why I quit drinking just to get drunk.

you sure you have the flu? if so, you're one of the first cases in Oregon this year, it's a little early to play hooky with the flu excuse.

If it is indeed the flu, why didn't you get a shot? Stupid not to. Even if you're allergic to eggs, you can get the nasal mist. Isn't 20$ at your local pharmacy for a shot better than being sick for days?

Plus if a doctor verifies you indeed have the flu, make sure it's reported to DHS, since no press releases confirming a first case in the state have been made. You're about 3 weeks too early.

Suck it up, you have a cold.

Just flu-like symptoms, I guess. Terrible body aches, a sore throat, fluctuating fever, head full of snot, etc.

It's better today than it has been, but still kinda miserable.

Yeah I feel for you man !! I just got over the same shit yesterday that hit me like a freight train on Friday. Same exact symptoms. I could not believe how early this year it seemed the flu has started, hell here it is still in the 80's during the day. Anywhos hang in there you should be on the upswing of it now since it took me 5 days to get through it. Good Luck

I will say though, that on the plus side, I've lost like 6 pounds in the span of about 3-4 days. :D

It sounds alot like mono to me.... you'd be amazed at how easy it really is to get that, and def not JUST from kissing, lol. If it stays the same for too much longer, talk to your doctor... it's so much easier to get over mono with medicine and doc's advice... my friend (and a member of this forum) suffered with it for almost 2 months last year (right about this time, too) and literally could have died if his rents didn't bring him to the hospital....

                    Feel better man!!

Definitely not Mono. My wife had the same thing a few days ago, and she was over it in 2 days. Everyone I know has been getting it, it's gone within a few days. Mono hits you for weeks, sometimes months.

Hope it gets better, if things persist past everyone's couple days, go see a doctor.

My uncle has been feeling down "from a cold" for a few weeks, and yesterday died of a massive heart attack, not saying you should watch for sharp pains or anything, but never put off something that could be worse.

Dude, those symptoms sound a lot like those of Anthrax. Anthrax will cause:
                              • Fever
                              • Headache
                              • A general feeling of discomfort
                              • Sore throat
                              • Loss of appetite
                              • Vomiting
                              • Fever
Have you been around any busy public places in the past week (i.e. airports, stadiums, schools, the post office)? Either way, I'd get this checked out ASAP. Good luck buddy
