i find the idea of "protecting the sanctity of the institution of marriage" idea pretty humorous; half of male/female marriages end in divorce anyway. seems at least that much of the populace doesn't really give a fuck about "till death do us part" anyway.

i wonder how many of the conservatives that want to ban gay marriage are with their 2nd or 3rd wife?

what consenting adults do behind closed doors is none of anyone else's business, and i think the same of whatever they want to call their relationship. two men want to call each other "husband"? no skin off my nose, so let them do what they want.

Who the fuck cares what the definition is? That's like saying when sufferage occured people argued that the definition of voting is a man stating his opinion. What's the definition of sex? There's like a billion ways to have "sex". The definition excuse is bullshit. Definitions change - it's not a gad damn law.

you would think that with the amount of liberal PNW people on here, the poll would be severely weighted to the yes side.

As i'm learning in my government class, definitions mean EVERYTHING

as in my previous post with the cake and ice cream example... You would not say, "Cake and cake make a good marriage" would you? Therefore, I cannot say "Man and man make a good marriage." That just doesn't work with me.

I'm not going to hide how I feel about the subject - christianity = garbage. Just my opinion. If you want to take this oppertunity to feel all high and mighty and tell me how stupid I am or whatever go ahead - I've heard it all before. Also, you're not going to learn morals or the meaning of life from govt class. Definitions obviously change quite frequently. If they didn't we would be in trouble.

"i dont believe in God. I believe in science"

                      - weird mexican side kick in 'Nacho Libre'

But agree with you completely Psloan. I think all religions are complete wastes of time. although i am not against those that practice them. And that 6 day creation bullshit that christians believe in is ridiculous. if it were true, then man wouldve existed along side dinosaurs.

By the way, I'm not a christian, not even close. I didn't want to discuss religion in this thread....

But when it comes to writing government laws, I think it's wise that words be used carefully and correctly because it affects everything.

Saying that gays can't marry does not imply they cannot have civil unions with all the benefits of marriage. I know it may seem silly to say they are not married when it's essentially the same thing but that's just my personal opinion that that is how one ought to view the idea of marriage as it is accepted in the english language.

but just imagine this: Your life being raised by two "moms."

                            that about wraps me up.

Better than being raised by one, IMO - which is the case alot these days.
