Rey, super cool of ya, good luck on the drive!
Thanks man, it's the least that I can do for my hometown and the victims.

I had to evacuate Monday morning & just got back into the house late last night. I was very lucky to not have any damage to the house even though the fires were about 2 miles north, 5 miles to the east & 5 miles to the south of me.

Good luck to you all. I cant even imagine how its like down there right now. The air quality is poor here, and we are hours away. Hope all is ok with you all.

Nasty stuff, one of my dad's cousins house got really close, her house, and her imediately surrounding neighbors houses on either side were safe, but everything else was wasted. yikes.

I hope everyone's doing alright. Good luck to everyone down here.

It's one big fuckpile around here right now. It's hard to breathe outside and my car is covered in ash...

I wouldn't mind some rain right about now...

This is to the NW. It isn't bad here around here since I'm more towards the ocean, but I couldn't see some of the hollywood hills and I couldn't see downtown today either. Figured since its a BMW forum I'd make it some what related. I heard more sneezes today more than usual, and people were going through the tissues pretty well.

I'm right down the street from you in Linda Vista; it definitely sucks, but at least there is no heavy ash like there was during the Cedar fire. I suppose that could change depending on wind conditions, though. Regardless, my allergies are going apeshit right now..:(

My house is right in the middle of 3 different fires but so far we've been really lucky. The Santa Anas are blowing southwest so we have a clean swath of air over us even though to the north and south there are huge clouds of smoke and ash. The wind is blowing so strongly that the clouds move horizontally and make it much worse for those in the path of it. Here at work it is ridiculously windy and smoky, even though the fire is over 20 miles away.

Here are a couple of pics I saw earlier that give you some idea of what it's like on the downwind side of the fires. this is exactly what it looked like at my house during the fire last year that killed 3 firefighters. :(

Good luck to anyone in the affected areas. Anyone who reads this and has no where to go is welcome to stay at our place 'til this thing is over.

It sucks, my throat hurts. Seems like the one 4 years ago was worse, ash was everywhere but this time it doesn't seem so bad but maybe because its just starting. I am pretty far away so it's not looking too bad but I should dig up the pictures of 4 year ago. It looked like a warzone I have a picture where everything was grey/brown with the orange glow there was crap flaoting around everywhere but if you look up theres just a bunch of firefighting helicopters flying around.

Don't know if ash is really that bad for the car's paint but i don't see why, its just carbon and its impossible to keep clean with the winds the way they are. Don't really care though theres bigger worries than the paint on my car.
