+1 to the hill climb. i typically match or beat my geared friends.

fixed gear is great for cruising around town. Would I take it on a 30 mile ride? Maybe, depends on the topography and who I'm riding with. But I kept my geared bike for a reason. I ride the geared once in a blue moon, ride the fixed every day. I like it about 10000x better as a dd. Don't like fixed? that's ok, different strokes for different folks. I don't necessarily know that saying it would be funny to see someone fall down a hill is a statement in the best of spirits

So, how do you guys think it's looking?

Looking great! I'm not a fan of those forks with the sharp bend like that, but it looks good.

^^ Looks good man, I'd suggest a fork with less rake.
            tasty

Looks like you are able to do a full bar spin with that fork though... I like it.

For a free frameset, I can't complain. My next bike, I'll be buying all the components and putting it together, this is more of a try it out and throw parts at trash from my sideyard then a full on build. If I could find some forks with enough downtube, I'll pick 'em up and throw them on this.

Some of the parts on the Windsor suck, but most of them are pretty good. The bars are shit, I flipped and cut them, but I'm getting some actual bullhorns soon. The crankset is good, but I want a better sprocket and chain. The threadless stem is also really cool, a big upgrade over the threaded one it used to come with. The seat also sucks, and the pedals/clips are SHIT. But most everything else is just fine.

Found this locally, my only fear is that it's too small for me at 5'11" - 6'. Though I have read that people like slightly smaller frame for a fixie than for a road bike, which I think I'm a good fit at 56cm (for a road bike).

Is that a decent deal? All I'd need to do is change the rear gear to make it a fixie, right?

I ride a 54cm and I'm 5' 8" with a 30" inseam. Perfect standover height. You'll probably want to go with a 56 but if you are really serious, just go to a bike shop and get measured. They won't bite.

I've been thinking of building up a bike and had a quick question for you guys. What do you think of coaster brakes? (like the kind on your very first bike when you were 4)

does anyone make a road bike wheel with coaster hubs or would it be a custom deal?

fixie seems fun, but I like to freewheel down hills, and a coaster would still have a clean "no brakes" look.

                          feasible?

Any brands I should look for? Won't be going on many 30 mile rides or anything. Mostly urban riding but I want something I can take on long rides once in a while and a decent climber cause theres a lot of elevation changes around me.

I wanted a Lemond or Bianchi, you know something worth some money if I ever decide to dump it for an upgrade. I want to spend about $500 for my first real bike.

Or should I just go crazy use my USACycling discount and get a Teschner and then everytime I have my bike on my car's rack the value of my E30 will double.
