Hey whats a nice brake lever? A friend scared the shit out of me this weekend. One of his buddies got hit by a truck and died riding brakeless track bike in boston recently. Not that he wouldnt have gotten creamed on a normal road bike (who knows) but i guess its peace of mind...

There are some people that just dont need to be riding brakeless, and there are accidents that happen regardless of whether you have brakes or not.
Theres really no 2 ways around it. If you aint comfy, get a brake. But its surely not the absense of the brakes fault 9 times out of 10.
I ride with road bikers all the time and I stop when they stop. They cant tell a difference. If anything they're fucking annoying to ride with because they're on their brakes constantly when they dont need to be.

Oh yeah, I bought one of these too recently.

Yes. Its basically a skate helmet with detachable accessory inserts for hte inside. They have all sorts of things to accomodate for urban riding.


Thanks Josh and Chris! My best friend got hit again by a cab rolling around 20-25mph. Hes a messenger here in town and required to wear a helmet. It saved him for sure, and he rides brakeless. The cabbie didnt have any insurance, and was completely at fault. Hes a very advanced rider. We've ridden many thousands of miles together brakeless and somehow I've managed to get out of so many near hits and some hits unscathed. I got hit twice in one day about 6 months during an alley cat and it was sort of a wake-up call. Brakes would ahve helped me zilch in every near accident occasion. The helmet would ahve though.

Just looked at their site. They have CF!!!! I guess it's everywhere nowadays. I like the Macon and Baker.

Agreed on the helmet and the brake. In Atlanta you can be ticketed for not having brakes. As far as helmets go, I ride, skate, and jib in an S-One.

Yep, my brother-in-law works for a local longboard online retailer, and they all got them, and he hooked me up with one. I'm not getting the CF one, but it makes the one I want like $25.

My LBS of choice gets them on the reg direct..
Pretty much everyone around here that isn't a roadie wears these helmets. Pretty comfortable and very very ventilated. I have zero complaints. Ive pissed away 60 bucks on far less important things for my bike too. So it was a good buy.
