yeah we ordered a kit. did the test run to get the feel. next month we're gonna order some more hops and things, but will be changing the recipe with local ingredients.

should be cool. i think the best part is handing a buddy a beer and saying, "i made this"

Kits always turn out mediocre IMO. All grain is the way to go. Right now I've got a scotch ale in the secondary, can't wait to tap that one. As far as on tap. I got a black IPA, cream ale, and a Mannys pale ale "clone". I tweaked the Mannys a bit and its WAY better. All the others are my own creations.

Anybody into barley wine? Definitely worth trying. Try the Abacus by Firestone Walker.
