What do you do with the title for a parts car? I have my audi's title and the guy dated it, but I never signed it or turned it in to get transferred to me. What are you supposed to do with it once you junk it?

Some scrape yards around here require a title before they will take a car for scrape metal. So I would sign it at least before taking it to a place like this if you ever planned on it. -
Cool, well I'm not gonna sign it. I don't feel like paying the $7 tax lol.
Apparently the cheapest car you can buy is $5. When I was at the DMV with my mazda title I told the lady it was a gift, then she wanted me to fill out all the paper work so then I said JK it was $1. Then she told me the smallest amount you can do is $5.
So if you buy a car for $3.47 your FUCKED.

Yup. Just sign the title to release your ownership of the car, and send it with the guys that haul it off. In Oregon, junkyards won't even talk to you on the phone if you don't have the title. I had a 89 325i shell sit in my driveway for 8 months one time, because I had to fight back and forth with this bastard kid and his Mom to get the title out of them.Comment

Usually when I am in a situation like that where no one will take something, or at least without me paying to have it "disposed", I just leave it on the side of a road. I think you can do that with cars. My buddys dad had a pile of SHIT toyota that they just left in a parking lot and never took it back. No government official ever said anything about it.Yup. It would be funny to drag that shell to wally world and just leave it in the parking lot. No wheels, doors, interior, etc lol.Rollin' with a GeistkuchenComment

So wait, I'm about to chop apart a parts car and hopefully take it to a scrapyard to junk. You telling me they won't take my scrap metal without a title?

it varies from state to state, depends alot on how strict each states regulations are. I would say that if you take "car parts" like a car cut up in 5 or 6 pieces, you should be OK no matter what- but if they are dicks about it you might have a problem.
Around here the scrap places (most of them) know me, and know that I am legit- but I've seen them turn away guys trying to sell cars because the didn't have the title. I talked to the guy working the scales and he said they had bought a couple of cars that turned out to be stolen!!

This is why I hack up a car into little pieces, if I don't have the title.
Time conusming? Yes.
Worth it to not have to deal with the scrap ppl? Yes.
