    Any Insurance Adjusters here?

I'm curious if anyone has any experience in this field. I've been in the autobody industry on and off for the last 6 years or so. I'm getting kind of tired of the blocking and wet sanding end of things. A friend of mine has been pushing me to apply as an adjuster. Sounds like a good deal. Dress nice, get paid well, company car and so on. Any input would be appreciated. Gracias,

    Ryan

Might be a cleaner field but you will hated and despised by your policy holders and most non-DRP shops as well . :D

I'm an insurance agent, so I work with adjusters often enough. I think it'd be a fun job. You get to travel, and talk with people about all sorts of things that happen, take pictures, etc. You're not generally the one who tells them how much $$ they'll be getting, so you shouldn't have to worry about people like Karbin mentioned. Lets you put your knowledge to work.

Chatted with a number of guys who really like the job. You can always speciailize in areas as time goes along so you can look at the stuff you like to look at :P

On more than a few instances I have watched an adjuster get his ass chewed. I run a shop, happens all the time. Id say I've seen it happen 20+ times in the last year. Thats at one shop that does not specialize in auto body either.

Well.... lets say generally then. Some people are just dicks. Period. They think anyone who works for the insurance industry should die a fiery death with pain and turture. Those people can kiss my ass because they're usually trying to make up for their poor living condition, which is not my problem.

Excellent guys. I figure it would be a good gig for me because I know the industry and I know body shop politics. What is the growth potential like for someone who gets into training position like I would? I have no degree. I just have my knowledge and a little managerial experience. I'm 26 and I'm just looking to get into a career. I was body man apprentice for a short time and I've been a preper the rest of the time. I've only worked at 2 shops and they are both known for being the best in the area. I'm colorblind so painter is out and I have no interest in sanding mud until I'm 60. Any other opinions on careers in the field would be great. Thanks guys,

                  Ryan
